Instructor Positions Available

Building Maintenance

Job description:
Under general supervision maintain and contribute to overarching curriculum, provide instruction, and monitor the progress and performance of students. Prepare and teach course topics such as maintenance worker duties, safety labels, documentation and work orders, power tools, OSHA regulations and standards for safety, security and safety of property, and basic repairs and maintenance.

Required Qualifications:
Current certification in HVAC, Electrical, or Plumbing and at least 3 years of work experience in building or facilities maintenance OR 7 years of work experience in building or facilities maintenance.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience teaching or training adults. Knowledge and experience with safety practices, reports and repairs, and care of property and equipment.

Business

Job description:
Under general supervision provides curriculum development, instructional review, revision, and evaluation of the Leeward CC non-credit Business programs. Responsibilities include delivering instruction and monitoring the progress and performance of students. Teaching assigned courses, preparing syllabi and course materials related to the discipline.

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA); OR Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field and three years of related work experience.

Desirable Qualifications:
Three years of direct work experience in business. Experience teaching adults or providing professional development to business professionals. Experience with curriculum development. Familiarity with exam preparation for business certifications. Maintains current certifications that include, but are not limited to, Project Management Institute (PMI), International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA), and Human Resource Certification Institute (HRCI).

Compliance Instructor

Job description:
Under general supervision maintain and contribute to overarching curriculum, provide instruction, and monitor the progress and performance of students. Prepare and teach courses such as Substance abuse, fatigue and awareness, sexual harassment, and workplace violence and tolerance.

Required Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in human resources, employment law, or related field and three years of related teaching or training experience.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience teaching or training adults. Knowledge and experience with workplace compliance on topics that, but are not limited to sexual harassment, substance abuse, workplace harassment, workplace violence.

CDL Driving Instructor

Job description:
Instruct adult learners in commercial driving skills in preparation for taking the State of Hawaii’s CDL license exam; classes prepare students for permit preparation, pre-trip truck assessment, safe driving practices, basic operations and CDL testing; conduct remedial driver training; manage truck performance, equipment and inventory.

Required Qualifications:
State of Hawaii Commercial Driver’s License, Class A; possess a minimum of two years of experience in teaching adult learners in CDL licensing and driving skills.

Desirable Qualifications:
Five years of experience in teaching adult learners in CDL licensing and driving skills; experience teaching students in passenger endorsement preparation.

Job description:

Desirable Qualifications:
Teaching experience in K-12 education or higher education. Experience teaching adults or education professionals. Experience in curriculum development for traditional, hybrid, and/or online courses. Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with the Hawaii K-12 education system. Currently licensed in education or special education.

Industry and Environmental

Job description:
Under general supervision maintain and contribute to overarching curriculum, provide instruction, and monitor the progress and performance of students. Prepare and teach courses such as storm water pollution prevention, environmental awareness, and heat stress.

Required Qualifications:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety and health administration environmental health and safety, human resources, or related field and three years of related teaching or training experience.

Experience teaching or training adults. Knowledge and experience with general, occupational, or construction safety.

Nurse Aide Instructor

Job description:
Under general supervision provides development, evaluation, review, and review of Healthcare programs. Implements instruction and evaluation of student performance in classroom/nursing lab and clinical experience. Maintains training lab supplies and equipment. Plans, manages, and directs the classroom/lab and clinical experience for students. Maintains a cooperative working relationship with staff at clinical sites to provide a safe learning environment.

Required Qualifications:

  1. Hawaii State Registered Nurse (RN) License.
  2. Associates or Bachelor’s in Nursing, or Health related field, OR Master’s degree in Business of Health related field and one year of direct work experience in healthcare, OR Bachelor’s degree in Busienss or Health related field and four years of direct work experience in healthcare.
  3. Five years of nursing experience in healthcare, of which at least on year must be in Long-Term-Care.
  4. Experience in teaching adults or supervising nurse aides.

Desirable Qualifications:
Five years of experience in teaching adult learners and diverse populations relating to workforce training. Five years of experience working in patient access. Nurse Aide Training Instructor qualified or already “approved” by the Community Ties of America (CTA). Knowledge of federal and state Medicare and Medicaid requirements. Technical knowledge and expertise in the nursing field and hands-on skilled nursing.

Pharmacy Technician Instructor

Job description:
Under general supervision teach a range of pharmacy technician courses with a strong emphasis on the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) exam in order that students who complete courses are able to achieve certification and perform work.

Required Qualifications:
Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) AND an Associates Degree from an accredited institution. Or a Doctor of Pharmacy from an accredited institution.

Desirable Qualifications:
Two years of direct work experience as a pharmacy technician or pharmacist. Bachelor’s Degree in Health Information Technology, Health Administration, Nursing or related field. Two years of teaching or workforce training experience.

Public Safety and Civil Defense

Job description:
Under general supervision maintain and contribute to overarching curriculum, provide instruction, and monitor the progress and performance of students. Prepare and teach courses portable fire extinguisher safety, back injury prevention, and terrorist activity recognition.

Associates or Bachelor’s degree in public administration, disaster preparedness and emergency management, human resources, or related field and three years of related teaching or training experience.

Desirable Qualifications:
Experience teaching or training adults. Knowledge and experience with emergency management, public and work safety, safety equipment, and public administration.
