Through funding by the City & County of Honolulu’s CARES Act Coronavirus Relief Funds, the University of Hawai‘i is offering FREE job training to eligible O‘ahu residents. To participate you must be:
- A resident of the City and County of Honolulu, and
- Have your job situation affected by COVID-19 impacts (e.g. furloughed, lost hours, or unemployed)
Your tuition, which includes books, supplies, industry credential fees, and more, are covered if you qualify. You’ll also receive job search assistance, interview preparation, and other supports.

Get behind the wheel of a truck, or other Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) with our training programs. We’ll prepare you to get your Commercial Driver License (CDL), and our courses include training with class A and B Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMV). One-on-one and customized training programs are available by request.
Get industry-standard forklift training. Our courses are developed for those who have never used a forklift, or incumbent workers who need re-certification.
First-time computer users as well as experienced professionals will find a variety of classes to fit their needs, including: basic keyboarding skills, introduction to computers, and Microsoft Office. Instructors teach in a contextualized manner including many job-related tasks and projects into their lesson plans to bring relevancy to the trainings. Office Administration and Technology is a comprehensive program preparing individuals for employment as Office Assistants. Lessons and skills will focus on real-world examples employees can expect on the job.
