​​​This course is part of the Certified Coding Series (HLTH5400)
​Course Description
This course introduces the basic rules of medical word building. Learn to identify prefixes, suffixes, and word roots commonly used in medical terminology. Participants will become oriented to the different systems of the human body and learn medical abbreviations and symbols.

Learner Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course participants will be able to:
1. Demonstrate the formation of medical words combining roots, suffixes and prefixes.
2. Interpret medical terms through dissection of roots, suffixes and prefixes.
3. Employ accepted medical abbreviations in appropriate communications.
