HOW TO APPLY FOR CMV PROGRAM
STEP 1
Visit our office to fill out an application form and schedule a reading assessment. Same day appointments are available. Please allow yourself two hours to complete this task. If you have received a post-secondary degree you are exempt from this requirement. You will receive a letter notifying you of your test results within two weeks. Please visit our financial assistance page, or call 455-0477, for more information​.​

STEP 2
Submit the following documents:
  1. Copy of a valid State of Hawaii Passenger Vehicle Drivers License
  2. Hawaii Driver History Record
  3. Medical Examiners Report Form and a Medical Examiner’s Certificate conducted by a licensed medical examiner
STEP 3
Complete your enrollment by submitting payment for the cost of the required courses. We do not offer payment plans, but we do work with our State and County workforce development partners who may be able to assist. 
To submit your prerequisite documents online, click "Apply Now" (after you click "REGISTER ONLINE"). This will require you to create an account. You may also submit all prerequisite documents in-person during regular office hours. Participants must also pass the Gates-MacGinitie reading test with an 11th grade level or higher prior to enrollment.​

​TRAN5400 - Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Training Class B

​Course Description
Upon completion of this series the participant will gain valuable knowledge of and experience with a Class B Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV). The participant will also be prepared to obtain a Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class B. This program ensures participants complete the entire training in a single track of courses.

Prerequisites
Participants interested in the Commercial Motor Vehicle (CMV) Training Program must pass the Gates-MacGinitie Reading Test with an 11th grade level or higher prior to enrollment.
  1. You must be at least 21 years old at the start of the training program.
  2. A valid State of Hawaii Passenger Vehicle Drivers License (Class 3).
  3. Hawaii Driver History Record.
  4. Medical Examiners Report Form and A Medical Examiner's Certificate conducted by a licensed medical examiner.
  5. Complete Student Participant Information Sheet (in office)
